The Telangana government has introduced a major change in the Post Matric Scholarship scheme. From the 2026-27 academic year, scholarship funds will be transferred directly to students' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer system instead of being paid to colleges. The benefit will be available to SC, ST, BC, EBC, Minority, and Divyang students. Both tuition fee and maintenance fee amounts will be credited directly to eligible students.
Students must pay their college fees within 7 days of receiving the scholarship amount. Those failing to do so may face strict action. Only students from families with an annual income of up to ₹2.5 lakh will be eligible. An Aadhaar linked bank account is mandatory, and the entire process will be conducted online through ePASS. Students must maintain at least 75 percent attendance to continue receiving benefits, while Divyang students will receive an additional 10 percent allowance under the revised guidelines.
