Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, detailing the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab in the state. In his letter, the Chief Minister said the storm had damaged crops, houses, roads and electricity infrastructure. He urged the Centre to dispatch assessment teams at the earliest to evaluate the losses. As part of the response, 16 NDRF teams and 11 SDRF teams have been deployed across 14 districts. More than 28,000 people have been shifted to relief centres, and the Chief Minister stated that no loss of life had been reported so far due to the preventive measures taken by the state government.
According to preliminary estimates, 180 houses have been damaged and more than 220 trees have fallen across roads. Heavy rainfall has inundated paddy crops across approximately 70,900 hectares, while horticultural crops have suffered damage across 10,450 hectares. Konaseema, Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Anakapalli and Krishna districts have been among the worst-affected areas, according to the letter. The government is working to restore electricity and drinking water supplies and speed up relief operations. Chandrababu said a comprehensive report would be submitted to the Centre after the damage assessment is completed. He also sought continued support from the NDRF and other central agencies and thanked the Union Government for its assistance.
