Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held another review meeting with officials on the impact of Cyclone Arnab. He conducted a teleconference involving around 32,000 personnel, including RTGS representatives, district collectors, and officials from the electricity, irrigation, agriculture, roads and buildings, municipal administration and panchayat raj departments, along with field staff. The Chief Minister sought details of the preliminary assessment of crop damage caused by the storm. Officials informed him that coconut crops across 8,000 hectares and banana crops across 5,000 hectares, along with other horticultural crops, had been damaged. Chandrababu directed officials to prepare a comprehensive report on the losses for submission to the Central Government. He also appreciated the preventive measures taken to avoid loss of life.
The Chief Minister instructed all departments to work in coordination until the cyclone’s impact subsides and normal conditions are restored. He directed officials to clear fallen trees from roads within two hours and restore traffic, while ensuring the immediate removal of trees blocking national highways. He also called for the restoration of electricity as soon as strong winds weaken. Officials were asked to restore normalcy in affected areas at the earliest and minimise damage to property. Chandrababu further directed authorities to ensure that people staying in relief centres have adequate food, drinking water and medical facilities, while providing reassurance about their safety.
