Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stressed the need to focus on electricity conservation alongside power generation. Addressing the 25th CII Energy Efficiency Summit at HICC in Hyderabad on Wednesday, he said electricity saved by avoiding unnecessary consumption is cheaper than electricity generated. He called for energy efficiency to be viewed not merely as an environmental responsibility but as a strategy to improve economic competitiveness. He also suggested reducing power consumption through efficient motors, cooling systems and smart energy management.
Bhatti said Telangana’s rapid development would drive higher electricity demand from industries, manufacturing, data centres, life sciences and electronics. He called for greater energy efficiency through renewable energy, electrification and digitalisation, and suggested using AI to identify power wastage and improve consumption efficiency. He urged industries to treat energy efficiency as a continuous management process rather than an annual audit and called for cooperation among the government, industry, technology companies, financial institutions and educational institutions.
