Depression Intensifies Over the Bay of Bengal

A low-pressure system formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, along the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts, has intensified into a deep depression, according to APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain. The system is likely to strengthen further in the next 24 hours. It is expected to cross the coasts between Paradeep and Sagar Islands by Monday morning or afternoon, bringing adverse weather conditions to the region.

Due to its impact, strong winds with speeds of 55–65 kmph are likely along the North Andhra coast. The sea is expected to turn rough, and authorities have warned that it is unsafe for boats under 7 meters to venture into the sea. Fishermen have been advised to avoid fishing activities until Wednesday. Coastal residents have been urged to remain alert and strictly follow official guidelines.
