Bengaluru’s notorious traffic has once again sparked a debate over workplace culture and the challenges faced by employees commuting to offices. A startup founder’s viral social media post showed his office being only half occupied at 10:15 AM, with the founder attributing the late arrivals to the city’s heavy traffic.
The founder highlighted his own commuting experience, saying that a 17-kilometre journey once took nearly two hours. The post has triggered a wider discussion about the practicality of strict early office timings in a city where commuters regularly face severe congestion, particularly on major routes such as Silk Board and the Outer Ring Road.
While many companies continue to emphasize in-office collaboration, punctuality and workplace discipline, employees argue that Bengaluru’s traffic conditions can make timely commuting extremely difficult. The debate has once again raised questions about whether flexible working hours or hybrid work models could better suit the realities of the city’s daily commute.
