The Modi government is preparing to launch a nationwide initiative under which a Union minister will visit a university every day and interact directly with students, according to sources familiar with the plan. Proposed as ‘One Day, One University’, the programme is aimed at strengthening the government’s engagement with young people. During the visits, ministers are expected to discuss students’ concerns, listen to their views on issues affecting the country and understand their expectations.
The ministers are also expected to explain various government schemes and initiatives aimed at students and young people. The programme is intended to create a direct channel between the government and the student community, while also gathering feedback on issues related to higher education and youth. The initiative is expected to provide students with an opportunity to directly communicate their concerns and suggestions to Union ministers.
