Pakistani TikTok creator Shamso Bibi, 28, known online as Ayesha Gilamana, was shot dead in Taxila near Islamabad on August 14. She was travelling in a car with her brother and sister when motorcycle-borne attackers allegedly intercepted the vehicle and opened fire. Bibi sustained gunshot wounds to her neck and died at the scene. She had more than 1.3 million TikTok followers. Her family said she had received threats in the days leading up to the incident.
The killing took place on Pakistan’s Independence Day, and police have reportedly arrested four suspects in connection with the case. Two of those detained are accused of helping the alleged gunman flee after the shooting. Bibi had been creating TikTok videos for around three to four years and was also involved in brand promotions. Her father alleged that she had been facing threats over a long-standing financial dispute and named individuals he suspected in his complaint. The exact motive and involvement of the suspects remain under investigation.
