Bangladesh is making all necessary legal efforts to bring former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back from India, where she has been staying since leaving the country, Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said. He stated that Dhaka had approached New Delhi under the bilateral extradition treaty, seeking her return. The minister described Hasina as a convict sentenced by a Bangladeshi tribunal, saying this was how she was regarded in his country.
Asaduzzaman clarified that the Law Ministry was not directly handling the matter, as the extradition process falls under the jurisdiction of the Home Ministry. He said that if India hands Hasina over to Bangladesh, the authorities will proceed strictly in accordance with the law, without allowing emotions to influence the process. He reiterated that all steps would follow the prescribed legal procedures.
