Andhra Pradesh SIR: 44.89 Lakh Voters Flagged for Exclusion from Draft Electoral Rolls

Andhra Pradesh’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has identified 44,89,488 voters, accounting for 10.78% of the state’s 4,16,27,694 registered electorate, for exclusion from the draft rolls. According to the figures released by Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav, the list includes 15.22 lakh deceased voters, 14.43 lakh people who have permanently shifted to other constituencies, 7.37 lakh duplicate registrations and 7.77 lakh voters who could not be traced or were not found at their registered addresses. The enumeration exercise conducted between June 15 and July 24 received completed forms from 3,71,38,206 voters, representing 89.22% of the total electorate. The flagged names will not appear in the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on July 31.

However, voters whose names are excluded from the draft list will have an opportunity to raise objections between July 31 and August 30. If their eligibility is established during verification, their names can be restored; otherwise, they will be deleted from the rolls. Separately, 36,68,979 voters were found to have deficiencies in the details submitted through enumeration forms, including 7,56,695 under the “no mapping” category. Their names will remain in the draft rolls, but they will have to submit the required information or prescribed documents. District-wise, Alluri Sitharama Raju recorded the highest proportion of deceased voters at 6.96%, Tirupati had 7.05% permanently shifted voters, Nellore recorded 2.91% duplicate entries, while Kadapa had 4.19% untraceable or absent voters.
