Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu lauded the Telangana government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for expediting land acquisition for the Warangal Airport project. Addressing the media after a meeting with the Chief Minister, he said the state swiftly secured 253 acres and handed it over to the Airports Authority, complementing the existing 700 acres. He noted that tenders for the boundary wall have been issued, runway tenders are ready, and contracts for terminal buildings will be invited within three to four weeks, with a target to complete the project by June 2, 2028.
The minister said the Warangal airport will reflect the grandeur of Kakatiya heritage, drawing inspiration from culturally themed terminals like the one in Jodhpur. He also highlighted plans for an airport in Adilabad, where around 1,500 acres are being pooled, integrating both civilian and defence operations with support from the Centre. He added that the UDAN scheme has been extended for another decade with an outlay of ₹30,000 crore, and the government aims to build 100 more airports, positioning India as a global aviation hub by 2047.
