12 Dead After Consuming Spurious Liquor in Madhya Pradesh

Twelve people have died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. The victims reportedly consumed a liquor sold under the name ‘Bombay Whisky’ late at night. More than 10 others fell ill following the incident and are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals.

Doctors said some of the affected individuals showed symptoms consistent with methanol poisoning. Taking the incident seriously, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter. Authorities have sealed six liquor shops in connection with the incident. The alleged negligence of excise officials has also come under criticism, with questions being raised over the monitoring and regulation of liquor outlets.
