YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the State Election Commission (SEC) of acting unfairly in the municipal election process. He alleged that nominations were obstructed in 19 municipalities and said his party had submitted complaints along with supporting evidence. According to Jagan, re-nomination opportunities were granted in only four places.
Jagan cited the examples of Mydukur, Tirupati, Kadapa and Rajampet to question the limited number of wards opened for re-nominations. He claimed that re-nominations were permitted in only 11 of Kadapa’s 66 wards and 11 of Rajampet’s 32 wards. Alleging that the ruling party was seeking an uncontested victory, he questioned whether the SEC was following Supreme Court directions or acting on Chandrababu Naidu’s instructions. These allegations reflect Jagan’s claims; the SEC’s response was not included in the statement provided.
