Trump Warns EU Over Tech Fines

US President Donald Trump has strongly criticized the European Union (EU) for imposing heavy fines on major American technology companies. Calling the actions unfair and discriminatory, Trump announced that the United States would launch a trade investigation against the EU under Section 301 of the US Trade Act. He also warned that the US could impose significant tariffs in response.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that the EU had imposed fines of $15 billion on Apple, $3 billion on Meta, and $2.5 billion on Amazon. He also said reports indicate that Google has been fined an additional $1 billion, taking the total penalties imposed on the company by the EU to more than $18 billion. Trump argued that these actions unfairly target American businesses.

Trump further stated that the US would no longer allow Europe to use American businesses and taxpayers as a "piggy bank." He accused the EU of exploiting US companies and said such practices would not be tolerated. Analysts believe that if the US proceeds with a Section 301 investigation and imposes new tariffs, trade tensions between the United States and the European Union could escalate.
