Safran has accelerated work on its aircraft engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility being set up in Hyderabad. The company has already recruited more than 60 skilled technicians for the unit, according to an official statement. Safran noted that the MRO centre, which was inaugurated in November last year, is expected to commence commercial operations later this year. The facility is being developed with the capacity to provide MRO services for up to 300 LEAP engines annually.
In the initial phase, the centre will generate employment for around 250 people, with the workforce expected to expand to approximately 1,100 once the facility reaches full operational capacity. The MRO unit is being established in Hyderabad by CFM International, a joint venture between France-based aircraft engine manufacturer Safran and US-based GE Aerospace. The facility will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for LEAP engines used in Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
