Telangana Gets High Court Relief in These Two Schemes

The Telangana government has received relief in its legal battle over the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes. A Division Bench of the Telangana High Court, comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, directed the Registry to assign a regular number to the government’s appeal against the interim stay imposed by a single judge. The move cleared the way for the appeal to be heard on Tuesday.

The single judge had imposed the interim stay on August 12 while hearing a petition by advocate Vijay Gopal challenging eight government orders related to the schemes. Appearing for the state, Advocate General A. Sudershan Reddy argued that the welfare schemes were within the state’s executive powers and that the petitioner had not suffered any violation of legal rights because of their implementation. The Division Bench is now hearing the government’s challenge to the interim order.
