India is moving ahead with plans to strengthen its air defence capabilities through the procurement of additional S-400 Triumf systems from Russia. According to the information available, India has floated a tender for five more S-400 squadrons, and Russia has submitted its proposal in response to the tender.
The S-400 is considered a key component of India’s air defence network and is known domestically as ‘Sudarshan’. The system is designed to detect and engage different types of aerial threats from considerable distances. Its reported role in countering aerial threats during Operation Sindoor has further highlighted its strategic importance for India’s defence preparedness.
