Smartphone buyers in India are facing another price shock as major brands OnePlus and Oppo have increased the prices of several popular models. The price revisions come amid rising demand for artificial intelligence devices globally, which has reportedly intensified shortages of memory chips and other hardware components. Higher manufacturing and component costs are believed to be the key reasons behind the price hikes.
Oppo has increased prices across its Reno 16 series by up to ₹5,000. The Reno 16 5G variants now cost ₹66,999 and ₹71,999, while Reno 16C 5G models have become costlier by up to ₹4,000. Prices of the Oppo A6s 5G and A6x 5G series have also increased by ₹1,000 to ₹3,000. OnePlus, meanwhile, has raised prices across its Nord lineup by ₹2,000 to ₹4,000. The Nord CE 6 Lite 8GB+256GB variant is now priced at ₹34,999.
Industry experts say global semiconductor supply constraints and higher component costs are putting pressure on smartphone manufacturers. Other brands may also be forced to revise their prices if input costs remain elevated. Market observers expect smartphone prices to remain under pressure at least until the upcoming festive sales season.
