The Adani Group is taking its business expansion to the next level by preparing to enter the commercial aircraft manufacturing sector. As part of this move, the group is set to partner with Brazil-based leading aircraft manufacturer Embraer. Senior officials from both companies are expected to formally sign the agreement on the 27th of this month in the presence of Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu.
Under the agreement, a dedicated Final Assembly Line (FAL) for Embraer’s commercial aircraft is proposed to be established in India. However, clarity is yet to emerge on whether the project will be developed as a joint venture or operated entirely under the Adani Group’s management. The move comes at a time when India’s civil aviation sector is witnessing rapid growth. Airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Air and Tata-owned Air India have already placed orders for over 1,200 new aircraft with Airbus and Boeing. Additionally, domestic airlines are expected to order up to 500 more aircraft over the next 20 years to meet the growing demand for regional air connectivity.
Already a major player in airport operations, the Adani Group aims to capitalise on these expanding opportunities. According to industry sources, the group plans to initially focus on aircraft assembly, followed by a phased entry into the manufacturing of aircraft components and parts.
