Google has officially expanded its AI-powered Virtual Apparel Try-On tool to India, allowing users to see how an outfit would look on them before making a purchase. Shoppers can now find a “try it on” icon on apparel product listings across Google’s platforms. This feature is part of Google’s Shopping Graph, designed to enhance online shopping with realistic virtual previews of clothing.
First announced at Google I/O in May and released to select users in July, the tool is now accessible to Indian shoppers. Users can try on billions of apparel items listed on Shopping Graph.
The tool is accessible via:
AI Mode
Google Shopping
Google Images product results
Anywhere these listings appear on Google
To use the feature, users tap the “try it on” button and upload their photo. Google’s fashion-based image generation model then shows how the outfit would look on their body.
The tool uses a specialized AI model that understands:
Human anatomy
Different body shapes
How fabrics such as cotton, wool, polyester and others fold, stretch and drape
Users can also:
Scroll through previously tried looks
Save their favorite outfits
Share results via messaging and social media apps
Separately, Google is upgrading the Gemini app. Logan Kilpatrick, Group Product Manager at Google DeepMind, confirmed the company is investing heavily to make the app cleaner, organized and clutter-free.
