Microsoft is reportedly preparing to expand its Gaming Copilot AI assistant to the current-generation Xbox consoles later this year. The AI powered chatbot, which has been in public testing for nearly nine months, is already available on Windows 11, Xbox mobile apps, and the ROG Xbox Ally handheld series. The move aims to bring in game assistance and recommendations to console gamers.
The Gaming Copilot AI will allow users to get help with in game missions, navigation, and items. It can also suggest games based on play history, answer questions about previously played titles, and provide account-related information, including Game Pass subscription renewal dates. Microsoft had initially launched the AI on non console platforms to gather feedback and refine the tool before deploying it to Xbox consoles.
Additionally, Microsoft announced that Xbox Mode will be introduced to Windows 11 starting in April. This feature offers a controller-focused navigation interface, a unified game hub displaying multiple storefronts like Steam, Epic Games Store, and Game Pass, and a task switcher that allows users to move seamlessly between running games and apps.
