

Actress Rakul Preet Singh recently revisited her childhood memories on the occasion of Independence Day. Coming from an Army family, she said August 15 has always held a special place in her heart. Her father, Kulwinder Singh, served in the Indian Army as a Colonel before retiring. Due to his postings, Rakul spent much of her childhood in border areas and grew up surrounded by an Army environment. She studied at an Army Public School in Delhi and recalled that the Independence Day celebrations at her school remain among the best memories of her life.
Rakul also remembered enthusiastically participating in patriotic song competitions during her school days and said singing for the country made her feel extremely proud. She described Independence Day as much more than a regular holiday, saying it feels like a major festival to her. On the professional front, Rakul is part of director Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated big-budget film ‘Ramayana’. She is set to portray the character of Shurpanakha in the film.
