Apple reportedly warned X and X AI earlier this year about removing the Grok app from its App Store. According to reports, the company found the app in violation of its guidelines following controversies over the generation of inappropriate and sexualised images. The issue gained attention after multiple complaints and media coverage highlighted the misuse of the AI chatbot.
Reports suggest that Apple contacted the teams behind X and Grok, asking them to improve content moderation and submit a corrective plan. While X reportedly made significant improvements and addressed most concerns, Grok’s updates were considered insufficient. As a result, Apple rejected the revised version of the app and warned that it could be removed if further changes were not implemented.
Despite some improvements, concerns remain as the chatbot reportedly continued generating inappropriate content without consent, although the number of such incidents has reduced compared to earlier months. The situation highlights the growing challenges tech companies face in regulating AI-generated content and ensuring user safety on digital platforms.
