Anthropic has introduced a new feature that allows its AI system Claude to control a user’s computer and perform tasks independently. The system can locate files, send them, and interact with applications like calendars or messaging platforms through built in connectors. If no direct connection is available, Claude can mimic human actions such as clicking, typing, and navigating software to complete tasks.
Users must grant permission for applications Claude wants to access, while the system explains its actions and confirms once tasks are completed. Currently available in a research preview for Mac users with premium subscriptions, this feature enables users to assign tasks remotely and return to completed work.
It also supports activities like coding, testing, and generating daily updates, though complex tasks may still require multiple attempts.
This development highlights the rapid growth of AI-powered agents capable of automating digital work. However, it has also raised concerns about job losses and disruptions in the technology sector. Anthropic continues to expand its capabilities through acquisitions and upgrades, aiming to deliver more advanced and scalable automation tools in the near future.
