The Supreme Court has directed the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) not to submit any reports to any authority based on the Allahabad High Court’s orders concerning allegations of disproportionate assets against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The case relates to allegations that Gandhi possesses assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, including alleged foreign assets. Rahul Gandhi had approached the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s directions.
During the hearing, the Centre opposed Gandhi’s plea. The Supreme Court questioned why the agencies had not initiated an investigation themselves if the allegations were serious, asking why they had waited for a court order. The court also asked the Allahabad High Court not to proceed further in the matter for now. The allegations remain subject to judicial scrutiny and do not constitute a finding of guilt against Rahul Gandhi.
