The alleged cannabis trafficking network operated by the “Bolla Brothers” has come under the spotlight following their arrest in Balanagar on August 13. According to the remand report cited by officials, the accused allegedly used seven bikes and a car, along with rented vehicles whose number plates were removed to avoid detection. They reportedly changed vehicles after every delivery and used trained German Shepherds to deter intruders. An air gun was allegedly kept for protection. Investigators said the group accepted orders through WhatsApp and supplied cannabis using a “dead-drop” method, with payments collected through PhonePe and Google Pay. The network allegedly sourced cannabis from 29 suppliers in Odisha and distributed it to around 225 customers in the city.
The case reportedly involves five accused, including brothers Bolla Durgaprasad, Kiran and Kamalakar. Their alleged associate, Rajkumar from Korutla, was also arrested and is reportedly a former accused in the 2019 QNet case. According to the remand report, Rajkumar initially purchased cannabis through a friend and later began dealing directly with Durgaprasad. Facing financial difficulties after being unable to secure a government job, he allegedly started delivering cannabis on behalf of the group for a commission of ₹50 per packet. Although he joined a private hospital as an administrator in July this year, investigators reportedly caught him near Begumpet’s Old Airport Road on August 12 while he was allegedly on his way to purchase cannabis. His questioning is said to have helped investigators uncover the alleged Bolla Brothers network.
