Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Infosys, has dismissed concerns that Artificial Intelligence could make IT companies and software professionals irrelevant. Addressing shareholders during the company’s annual report presentation, Nilekani said AI is not reducing the importance of IT services but is instead increasing the demand for advanced skills. He noted that despite concerns surrounding AI-driven automation, Infosys has continued to deliver strong business performance and expand its workforce.
Highlighting the company's growth, Nilekani said Infosys recorded annual revenue of $20.16 billion, reflecting a 4.6% increase over the previous year, while its employee count rose to 328,594. He emphasized that software development involves much more than coding, with areas such as testing, cybersecurity, system reliability, and IT modernization becoming increasingly important in the AI era. According to him, companies must adopt new business models and reskill their workforce to leverage AI-driven productivity and unlock future growth opportunities.
