Authorities are investigating a sophisticated network that allegedly used artificial intelligence to promote illegal drug sales through online music platforms. Criminal groups reportedly generated thousands of songs using AI tools and uploaded them to Spotify. However, the tracks were more than just music—song titles, descriptions, and lyrics reportedly contained coded language designed to connect potential buyers with drug dealers.
The investigation revealed that the operation aimed to market and distribute dangerous drugs through digital channels while avoiding traditional detection methods. In response, Spotify removed more than 57,000 episodes and shut down around 3,500 accounts linked to the activity. The case highlights how emerging technologies can be misused for criminal purposes, prompting renewed calls for stronger monitoring of online platforms.
