A recent report by IBM revealed that 76% of companies have appointed Chief AI Officers to lead artificial intelligence transformations within their organizations. The report, based on a survey of more than 2,000 firms, highlights how AI is changing decision-making at the executive level. Companies are creating dedicated leadership roles to manage AI infrastructure, governance, and integration across departments.
Experts say the rapid growth of AI has also increased the importance of Chief Human Resources Officers. Around 59% of respondents believe HR leaders will play a bigger role in the future, especially in employee training and improving AI knowledge among workers. Analysts noted that cultural and workforce challenges are becoming bigger obstacles than technology itself during AI adoption.
At the same time, concerns over AI-driven layoffs continue to rise. More than 101,000 tech employees have reportedly lost jobs globally this year as companies automate operations and reduce labor costs. However, industry experts argue that AI can also improve productivity, create new opportunities, and allow employees to focus on higher-value work instead of repetitive tasks.
