RCB star batter Virat Kohli has expressed discomfort over the growing content creation culture in the IPL. He said that players are constantly under camera surveillance, which makes it difficult for them to speak freely. Kohli also criticised the pressure created by franchises and broadcasters to generate content, saying it is causing discomfort to players.
Speaking on the RCB podcast hosted by Mayanti Langer, Kohli said that cameras follow players even during practice sessions. He recalled feeling uneasy when he was being filmed while having a conversation with Kane Williamson. He stressed that players’ personal space must be respected.
Kohli added that while he understands the importance of content in the digital era, there should be limits. He said that recording and analysing every small movement affects the natural environment of the game. He emphasized that players should be given the freedom to practice in a calm and pressure-free atmosphere.
