At just 15, Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already showing remarkable confidence in making decisions on the field, particularly when it comes to DRS calls. During the ongoing Duleep Trophy, he has played a key role in three successful reviews, with a video of his sharp calls going viral on social media. In the final against South Zone, East Zone posted a huge first-innings total of 708 runs, putting South Zone under pressure. During the sixth over of Mukesh Kumar’s spell, Vaibhav repeatedly urged Ishan Kishan to take a review for an appeal involving Ricky Bhui. UltraEdge showed a clear spike, confirming the ball had touched the bat and resulting in Bhui’s dismissal.
With Ishan Kishan leaving the field, Vaibhav took over as East Zone’s captain and once again proved his ability to read review situations. During Mohammed Shami’s spell, he backed a DRS call on Smaran Ravichandran after the ball appeared to take the edge, and UltraEdge again confirmed the decision as correct. Smaran was dismissed for 23. Vaibhav had also successfully influenced a review during the semi-final against Central Zone, when Aryan Juyal was involved in a catch appeal. Across the semi-final and final, all three DRS reviews suggested by Vaibhav were successful, leading netizens to call him a “DRS specialist”.
