Tamim Iqbal Confident India Will Tour Bangladesh Despite Security Concerns

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal has expressed confidence that Team India will eventually tour Bangladesh despite ongoing uncertainty over security concerns. India was originally scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh last year, but the series was postponed due to the country's political unrest. Speaking at a press conference, Tamim said the BCB is in constant touch with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through emails and discussions, adding that Bangladesh has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the visiting team. He believes the bilateral series will be highly competitive and beneficial for both nations.

However, the proposed September window presents another challenge as India is already scheduled to play a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Finalising the Bangladesh tour could require adjustments to India's international calendar. Responding to the issue, Tamim acknowledged that he has limitations as BCB President but said he continues to engage with relevant stakeholders and explain the importance of the series. The BCCI is yet to make an official decision on whether the Bangladesh tour will go ahead as planned.
