India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finished second in the Commonwealth Games final after registering a best throw of 85.83 metres. Despite entering the competition as one of the favourites, the Olympic champion had to settle for the silver medal as Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Pathirage delivered a winning throw of 89.75 metres to clinch gold.
India celebrated another success in the event as Yashveer Singh secured the bronze medal with an impressive throw of 85.41 metres. The double podium finish highlighted India’s growing strength in javelin throw, even though Neeraj narrowly missed the top spot in a highly competitive final.
