Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has created history. In the second Test of the Ashes series against England, he bowled 19 overs, conceding 71 runs, and took six wickets, producing a brilliant performance. He became the first Aussie pacer in Test cricket to take six or more wickets in three consecutive matches. Not only that, he broke the record of former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram, who had taken 414 Test wickets. Mitchell Starc reached 415 wickets, becoming the left-arm pacer with the most Test wickets in history. He now ranks 16th in the all-time list of wicket-takers.
In the first Test of the Ashes in November at Perth, he gave away 58 runs and took seven wickets in an innings. Earlier in July this year, in the second innings of the third Test against the West Indies, he conceded just nine runs and took six wickets. Previously, Tom Richardson was the first bowler to take six or more wickets in three consecutive Test matches. In 1895, he took 6 wickets for 104 runs against England in Melbourne and followed it up with 6 and 7 wickets in the first innings of matches at Lords and Manchester. Former Pakistan pacer Imran Khan also achieved this feat during the Test series against India in 1982-83.
