In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Team India star cricketer and Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues achieved a remarkable milestone. She became the youngest captain in WPL history at 25 years and 127 days, surpassing the previous record held by star player Smriti Mandhana, who had captained Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the age of 26 years and 230 days.
As part of WPL Season 4, Jemimah was appointed Delhi Capitals captain. On Saturday, January 10, Delhi faced Mumbai at the DY Patil Stadium, where Jemimah won the toss and chose to bowl first.
The Indian women’s cricket star, who had delivered a memorable unbeaten century against Australia in the 2025 ODI World Cup series, has now earned a leadership promotion in the WPL. The Delhi management decided to entrust the captaincy to an Indian player this season and Jemimah Rodrigues took over the Delhi Capitals leadership role in place of Meg Lanning.
