

India delivered a remarkable performance at the Commonwealth Games, with its athletes securing an impressive haul of gold, silver and bronze medals across multiple disciplines. In para athletics, Sharmila Dhankar won the women's Shot Put F57 gold medal, becoming the first Indian para-athlete to win a Commonwealth Games gold in para athletics. Weightlifting star Mirabai Chanu successfully defended her title for the third consecutive Games, lifting a total of 190kg (85kg snatch and 105kg clean & jerk) in the women's 48kg category to claim gold with a Games record. Rishikant Singh earned a silver medal in the men's 60kg weightlifting event, setting a Games record of 121kg in the snatch and becoming India's first able-bodied medallist at the 2026 Games.
India's medal tally was further strengthened by silver medals from Muthupandi Raja in the men's 65kg weightlifting event, Gyaneshwari Yadav in the women's 53kg category and Valluri Ajay Babu in the men's 79kg division. High jumper Sarvesh Kushare secured silver to become the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's high jump. In para powerlifting, Jhandu Kumar claimed bronze in the heavyweight category with a 190kg lift. Bindyarani Devi added another bronze in the women's 58kg weightlifting event, while Shilpa K. Shaila was awarded bronze in the women's Shot Put F57 after India's successful official appeal.
