Indian badminton star and two-time Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu is gearing up for another tournament following her runner-up finish at the French Open. She is set to compete at the Hylo Open, which begins on Tuesday, aiming to maintain her form in Germany. Sindhu lost to world No. 1 An Se-young in Sunday’s French Open final, marking her 11th consecutive defeat against the South Korean star. She will begin her Hylo Open campaign against Neslihan Arin of Türkiye in the women’s singles. Other Indian women in action include Devika Sihag, who faces Chao Chuang of Thailand, Ashmita Chaliha, who takes on Nalbantova of Bulgaria, and Unnati Hooda, who meets Tereza Švábíková of the Czech Republic.
Former Hylo Open champion Lakshya Sen is also targeting another strong performance at the tournament. The 2019 winner withdrew from his opening match at the Paris event due to injury and is eager to regain his rhythm. Sen will face Finland’s Joakim Oldorff in the men’s singles opening round. Young Indian shuttler Ayush Shetty will take on Taiwan’s Lee Yang, while Tarun Mannepalli faces France’s Toma Junior Popov. H.S. Prannoy is set to play France’s Alex Lanier, and Kiran George will meet Malaysia’s Jun Wei. Indian players will look to make the most of the tournament as they continue their campaigns on the international badminton circuit.
