Indian gymnast Pranati Nayak and her coach Ashok Mishra encountered an unexpected accommodation issue after reaching Nagoya, Japan, for the 2026 Asian Games. The two were initially assigned the same room aboard the cruise ship being used to accommodate members of the Indian contingent. The unusual allocation prompted both Nayak and Mishra to raise the issue with team officials and organisers.
The matter remained unresolved for several hours before the Indian Olympic Association intervened and arranged separate accommodation at around 1:30 a.m. However, Mishra faced another delay when hotel staff could not locate his booking in their records. Officials found an error in his name in the system, requiring his accreditation and booking details to be verified again. The correction reportedly took around 45 minutes, and Mishra was able to access his room only after 2 a.m. Pranati Nayak later confirmed that the accommodation mix-up had occurred and was eventually resolved.
