A powerful explosion near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan has damaged a railway track, triggering security concerns. The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Sri Ganganagar district, shortly after a passenger train had passed through the area. Following the explosion, railway authorities temporarily suspended train services between Anupgarh and Suratgarh as a precautionary measure. The incident raised concerns over a possible attempt to target a passenger train.
The blast occurred near the 50 GB point along the railway track, damaging two concrete support pillars and creating a crater nearly two feet deep. Residents of nearby areas reported hearing a loud explosion. Security agencies immediately rushed to the spot, while anti-terrorism personnel and the bomb disposal squad began examining the site. According to the district police, investigators are exploring whether the blast was intended to derail or target a passenger train. The possibility of a link to recent incidents in which security forces recovered weapons and RDX dropped by drones near the Pakistan border is also being investigated. However, the exact cause of the explosion and those responsible are yet to be established.
