The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has clarified that the ZPTC and MPTC elections will be conducted as scheduled across the state. Following heavy rainfall and flooding in several areas due to the impact of the cyclone, officials reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming elections. On Wednesday, State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Poonetha held a video conference with district collectors to assess the cyclone's impact, flood conditions and challenges related to polling arrangements.
During the meeting, district collectors reported that floodwaters had receded in several districts and that there were no major obstacles to conducting the elections. After reviewing the reports, the State Election Commission directed officials to ensure that polling is conducted peacefully in areas where conditions are favourable. With this clarification, the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections in Andhra Pradesh will proceed according to the previously announced schedule.
