BJP Telangana state president N. Ramchander Rao is reportedly set to be the party's candidate for the Mahabubnagar–Rangareddy–Hyderabad Graduate MLC constituency. According to party sources, the decision was taken during the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting held in Delhi on Tuesday. An official announcement regarding his candidature is expected within the next couple of days. The BJP leadership had constituted a three-member committee to shortlist candidates for the two Graduate MLC constituencies. After collecting names from aspirants, the leadership reportedly considered internal survey findings and feedback from state leaders before favouring Ramchander Rao. His previous experience in the constituency is also believed to have played an important role in the selection.
Meanwhile, the BJP leadership is reportedly considering a BC candidate for the Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda Graduate MLC constituency. The names of Dr Vannala Venkata Ramana and retired teacher Biksham Goud are under consideration. There are also reports that Biksham Goud may join the BJP soon. The Congress has already announced Sama Ram Mohan Reddy as its candidate for the Mahabubnagar–Rangareddy–Hyderabad seat and Ram Reddy Sarvotham Reddy for the Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda constituency. The Telangana Rajyadhikara Party has announced Palakuriki Ashok Goud as its candidate through Teenmar Mallanna. The BRS, however, is yet to announce its candidates. With the major parties preparing for the elections, the contest for both Graduate MLC seats is becoming increasingly interesting.
