Chennai Super Kings batter Urvil Patel has produced an impressive performance in the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy, scoring an unbeaten 210 for Gujarat against Kerala. After narrowly missing a century with 96 runs against Maharashtra in the previous match, Urvil made the most of his opportunity in the ongoing game. Gujarat were struggling at 189/5 when he came to the crease. He then joined Vishal Jaiswal, who scored 77, to build a crucial 179-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Urvil continued to guide the innings with support from Amit Desai and Siddharth Desai, helping Gujarat reach a massive total of 534/9 before declaring their first innings.
Kerala began their first innings after Gujarat's declaration and ended the second day's play at 74/3. Speaking to the media after the day's proceedings, Urvil credited the Indian Premier League and former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni for boosting his confidence. He said that sharing the dressing room with Dhoni was a privilege and that seeing him gave him confidence. CSK had signed Urvil for his base price of Rs. 30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction. He had earlier made headlines by scoring a century off just 28 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His latest double century has further strengthened his credentials ahead of the IPL 2027 mini-auction.
