Following the conclusion of the IPL 2026 season, India’s Under-19 and Under-25 teams are set to tour Sri Lanka for red-ball series. In this context, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a significant step to enhance the red-ball skills of young players. A special high-performance training camp has been established at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. For the Under-25 camp, a total of 25 players have been shortlisted; however, young talents Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre have not been included, as they are expected to be occupied with IPL 2026 commitments. Nonetheless, they may still have opportunities to be considered for the senior setup in the future.
Ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, the BCCI will also organize an intra-COE tournament featuring a series of four-day red-ball matches. A total of 64 young cricketers from across the country will participate, divided into four teams with 16 players each. The selection includes 25 players who have performed well in the C.K. Nayudu Trophy and Under-23 one-day tournaments, along with 25 players who have excelled in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The remaining 14 players include Under-19 World Cup participants and IPL performers. Players who stand out in this intra-COE tournament will earn a place in the ‘India Emerging’ (Under-25) main squad, which will tour Sri Lanka for red-ball matches. The entire program will be overseen by VVS Laxman, Head of the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
