EVMs Cannot Connect to Internet, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi - CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has clarified that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) used in India are manufactured by public-sector organisations and cannot be connected to wireless technologies such as the internet, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. During his interaction with students at the historic Colvin Taluqdars College in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, he spoke about democracy, the electoral process, the reliability of EVMs and the importance of young voters.

Kumar said India has nearly 1 billion voters and conducting elections on such a massive scale is a major responsibility. He urged every citizen who has attained the age of 18 to register as a voter and encouraged young people to participate actively in the electoral process. He also said EVM usage and election management are carried out under transparent rules and in accordance with the law.
