India is set to compete in the World Athletics Relays to be held in Gaborone, Botswana, on May 2 and 3. A 21-member Indian contingent will participate across five categories under the leadership of Animesh Kujur. According to Adille Sumariwalla, eight women athletes are part of the squad representing the country in this prestigious event.
Although India was initially expected to compete in six categories, the women’s 4x400 relay team was not selected. Meanwhile, Telangana athlete Nithya Gandhe will compete in the women’s 4x100 relay and mixed relay events. Having delivered consistent performances at national and international levels, she aims to excel in this tournament and prepare strongly for upcoming events like the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
