

India's men's T20 team has secured direct qualification to the quarterfinals of the cricket event at the Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4. According to the official schedule, defending champion India, along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, will begin their campaign from the quarterfinal stage.
Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, and Oman will compete in the first round across two groups for the remaining knockout spots, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals. India will play its first match on September 28. In the women's competition, the tournament will also begin from the quarterfinals, with Harmanpreet Kaur's team facing Japan in its opening match. India are the defending champions in both the men's and women's cricket events.
