BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao has announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Telangana on November 2 to participate in a party-organised padyatra. Addressing a press conference, Ramchander Rao criticised the Congress over its remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family, condemning comments attributed to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge during an event in Patna, Bihar. He alleged that Congress leaders were resorting to personal attacks after failing to counter the BJP politically. The BJP leader also accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Challenging Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Ramchander Rao said he was ready to visit the Chief Minister’s native village, Kondareddypalli, if a time was fixed to examine claims about deleted votes. He maintained that eligible voters would not lose their voting rights under the SIR process and urged the Congress to provide evidence for its allegations. He also questioned the party’s claim that around 13 crore votes had been removed, stating that the figures referred to voters identified under the categories of absent, shifted, dead and duplicate (ASDD).
Ramchander Rao further criticised the state government over what he described as its failure to address Telangana’s pressing public issues. Citing drought conditions allegedly affecting 330 mandals due to deficient rainfall and El Niño, he claimed that only around 500 of the state’s 6,000 lakes had water and that Hyderabad was relying on approximately 8,000 water tankers a day to meet demand. He questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s proposed participation in a Congress protest in Delhi, arguing that the state’s water and drought-related problems required immediate attention. The BJP president said his party would organise a padyatra on November 2 under the slogans “Loktantra Bachao – Save Democracy” and “Arachakam Hatavo – Remove Anarchy.” Amit Shah is expected to join the march during his Telangana visit. Ramchander Rao said the programme would be part of the BJP’s campaign against what it describes as the Congress’s political conduct. The allegations and figures cited at the press conference represent the BJP leader’s claims and have not been independently verified here.
