BJP MP K. Laxman has strongly condemned Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding that Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi apologise to the Prime Minister. Laxman also called on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to respond to Kharge’s statements. He said political leaders were free to criticise the government, but they should not distort facts. Accusing the Congress of failing to change its approach despite repeated electoral setbacks, Laxman said the party continued to make statements that, in his view, misrepresented the facts. He reiterated that criticism should be based on facts and responsible political discourse.
Laxman further announced that the BJP would organise a large rally on November 2 under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The rally, he said, would focus on explaining the facts surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the functioning of the Election Commission of India (ECI). The BJP intends to communicate its position on these issues to the public and address what it considers misinformation. The announcement comes amid a political exchange between the BJP and Congress over Kharge’s remarks and the wider debate surrounding electoral processes and the Election Commission.
