England suffered a narrow one-wicket defeat against Pakistan in the ODI series match played in Lahore on Sunday. Chasing a modest target of 242, Pakistan held their nerve in a tense finish, with all-rounder Shadab Khan producing a brilliant century to guide the hosts to victory. Despite England’s defeat, opener Ben Duckett stood out with a remarkable innings, rescuing his team after a disastrous start. After winning the toss and opting to bat, England were reduced to 52 for four as Pakistan’s pace attack struck early. Duckett then steadied the innings with a fighting century, scoring 105 off 111 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of 94.59.
Duckett’s innings also earned him a place in the record books. He became the first England batter to score two ODI centuries on Pakistani soil. His maiden ODI century came against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium during the 2025 Champions Trophy, and he has now reached the three-figure mark at the same venue again. Duckett’s latest achievement places him alongside New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and Sri Lanka’s Aravinda de Silva, who have also scored two ODI centuries at the Gaddafi Stadium. Although England could not secure victory, Duckett’s historic knock remained one of the major highlights of the match.
