India Eye T20I Clean Sweep Against Afghanistan

India will aim to complete a 3-0 clean sweep when it faces Afghanistan in the third and final T20I at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 17. India has already secured the series after winning the opening two matches, while Afghanistan will be looking to avoid a whitewash. With the series decided, the Indian team management could consider giving opportunities to players who have not featured so far. One of the major talking points is whether young opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi will make his T20I debut. The 15-year-old is part of India’s squad for the series, but has not played the first two matches.

India’s batting has been productive in the series, with Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson among the players making an impact. Samson struck a 22-ball 57 in the second T20I after a low score in the opener. The bowling unit has also kept Afghanistan under pressure, although India will look to improve its execution in the closing stages of the innings. Afghanistan, meanwhile, will need contributions from Rahmanullah Gurbaz, captain Ibrahim Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan if it is to challenge India in the final match.
